My mother always says that the one thing that a lot of people
are missing in this day and age is….you guessed it, “common sense."
Yes, yes and yes.
It is incredible how much we complicate our lives just by
not taking a moment to think with simple common sense.
Hey look, I too have had my moments of “duh!”
It just seems that nowadays the lack of common sense
has run rampant!
This brings to mind how easily we just live on automatic.
We trust too much in automatic systems that have been set up for us
and forget to use our own NOGGIN. (That's 'brain' for those of you
scratching your head!)
As our 2015th year begins, packed with computers,
drones and robot vacuum cleaners, we creatures of humankind
seek to have more relaxed and interesting lives.
As we live more and more in a culture of advanced technology,
it seems we have awkwardly created a missing link in our brains and
disconnected ourselves from "simple logic"
or what we all know as "common sense."
Even when we have outrageously huge search engines
at our fingertips that respond to all of our stupidest and
most fundamental questions, we still put our fingers
in the imaginary sockets of life and fry our brains
wondering what happened!
I’ll tell you what happened.
We rarely take the time to just be. Easy peazy.
Oftentimes, we rush into simple tasks because we are so spoiled
with having what we need now without any forethought!
- You know like, "just put it in the microwave and let’s eat!"
- Or, "can I watch a video instead of reading the book?"
Once again, I too am guilty of this same fast food mentality.
After all it’s 2015 for Christ's sake! Aren't we all guilty to some extent?
No. We still have to be aware of what is going on around us.
We still have to protect ourselves from stupid bad choices
that could literally kills us.
Like, putting water on an oil based fire
or sticking a knife in a plugged in toaster.
Simple common sense is a gift from God or some powerful source.
Use it or end up telling an embarrassing story at your
What else is possible?
